Nintendo's business is flourishing. This year has been full of successes for the Japanese company, but amid all the good news, there's a delay for one of the most significant expansion projects of this decade.
In addition to constantly providing appealing content to its fans through video games or multimedia content in general, the Big N has plans for growth that will help it maintain the good pace of internal development.
Thus, the company announced 2 years ago that it would invest its capital to expand and build a new building, the Corporate Headquarters Development Center, Building No. 2, right next to its offices in Kyoto, Japan.
The project was supposed to be a medium-term one, as the opening was originally scheduled for 2027. However, Nintendo reported that the opening will be delayed until 2028.
Why will the construction of Nintendo's new building be delayed?
As part of its latest financial report, Nintendo explained that the project will be delayed by 1 year as a result of an increase in the scale of the project, confirming the report from Nikkei earlier this year.
The Japanese newspaper mentioned that it was due to an "expansion plan," which would make the building not 12 floors but 13, in order to provide space for more staff.
"This second development center will play an important role in strengthening our research and development capabilities," the company officially stated.
Consumers will not directly feel the repercussions of this delay, but it is essential to consider them as it is one of the most ambitious projects for the Japanese company in the coming years, such as the museum that will open its doors next year, helping strengthen the brand.
