Can you imagine surviving an accident thanks to a console? Well, that’s exactly what happened to a player who was in danger but was saved by an Xbox Series S. Reddit user Jonzey2282 recently shared his amazing story, which surprised and moved the community alike.
Although it may be hard to believe, the young player was nearly killed while riding his bike from a GameStop to his home. Fortunately, the Xbox Series S he picked up and had in his backpack saved him from disaster. The system took the hit and was damaged, but to everyone’s surprise, it still worked.
Player Survived an Accident Thanks to Their Xbox Series S
The accident happened while Jonzey2282 was riding his bike home from the nearest GameStop. The player packed his Xbox Series S into his backpack and followed the route through one of the busiest streets in his city. The problem occurred when he reached an intersection and a truck unexpectedly hit him.
“I managed to keep most of my body above the steel bumper at first but I wasn’t aware the driver didn’t see me. I was sucked under, my backpack slammed on to the pavement. Not only did it tear through my bag almost instantly but it started shredding the box and then the controller..”
The player claims his Xbox Series S saved his life, as he recalls not wearing a helmet. Without the console, his head and back would have hit the concrete directly. He believes this unexpected protection prevented him from suffering more serious injuries.
“If the box wasn’t in my bag I may have hit my head bc at the time I wasn’t wearing a helmet. That box also kept my back from getting scraped up too.”
Jonzey2282 struggled to escape unscathed as the driver didn’t realize the accident had happened. He said he made several quick maneuvers to minimize damage, but the vehicle dragged him several meters. The result was a broken toe on his left foot, scrapes, and a damaged console.
The player showed images of his Xbox Series S after the accident. The console's case was broken, and parts of the controller were completely damaged. To his surprise, the system worked without issues and he was able to play.
“I was hit and dragged 12 feet with only a single broken bone in my left foot, a bit of road rash on my hip and an Xbox that runs smoothly. Thing had no hesitation when turning on and I’d be happy to provide more photos but the question is… What could have happened if I had no Xbox in my bag?”
The Community Believes the Xbox Player Was Very Lucky
As expected, the community had all kinds of reactions to this story. Most players expressed relief that Jonzey2282 was okay and that the accident didn’t end worse. They also celebrated that the Xbox Series S still worked despite everything.
Some even recommended that he share the story with Microsoft, as they believe the company would send him a new Xbox Series S after hearing what happened. On the other hand, some players took the opportunity to remind everyone to wear a helmet when biking.
“Glad to hear you’re alright! Also the Xbox made it too! Get a new controller and you’ll be playing with no issues!”
