The holiday season is just around the corner, and it’s time to dust off decorations and other items to give our homes a festive touch. That’s precisely what a PlayStation fan was doing when they stumbled upon a heartwarming surprise related to gaming.
Reddit user Budget-Spidey recently shared a story that moved and delighted many players who grew up with PlayStation consoles and games. While searching for Christmas decorations, they discovered their forgotten PlayStation 1.
Like any gamer would, Budget-Spidey cleaned the console and plugged it in to see if it still worked. To their delight, they also found an impressive collection of games, including a few classics of the system.
Player Finds Their PS1 and a Great Game Collection After Years
The player shared an image on Reddit showing a PlayStation 1 in excellent condition. Fortunately, the system they found among Christmas decorations works perfectly and runs games without issue.
Budget-Spidey tested the console with a copy of the first Tomb Raider, one of Sony's iconic titles. The player, now 22 years old, admitted they never truly got to enjoy the system. This discovery excited them, especially seeing it still functional.
“Found this fella when helping my mom with digging out Christmas decorations from the attic.”
The console came with copies of Tomb Raider, MediEvil, Resident Evil 3 Nemesis, Driver, TEKKEN 3, Gran Turismo, and other great titles that brought countless hours of fun to those fortunate enough to own a PlayStation 1.
“I'm 22, and I've never seriously used the Ps1 to play on. I started gaming on my Ps3. It's insane how much easier games are to play nowadays, the amount of patience you need for old games is incredible to me.”

Community Believes the Player Has a Treasure in Their Hands
Players who read Budget-Spidey’s story were amazed, noting that the console and controller were in excellent condition. Some Reddit users recommended taking good care of it, believing it’s a treasure that will become even more valuable in the future.
One player, in particular, offered advice: keep the system and avoid selling it for a meager price at stores like GameStop. They shared their regret about selling part of their collection this way and urged Budget-Spidey not to make the same mistake.
“That PS1 plus the games will be worth a fortune in 10 more years.”
