Bloodborne is one of the most iconic titles on PlayStation 4, so it’s no surprise that fans have been waiting for years for a re-release or sequel. However, neither Sony nor FromSoftware has taken steps to satisfy players longing to return to Yharnam.
Over the months, there have been reports about a remaster, a PC port, and a PlayStation 5 re-release. Yet, none of these have materialized, leaving fans eagerly awaiting new developments related to Bloodborne.
Hope has resurfaced again, as a new report suggests that an announcement about the franchise might be on the horizon. This speculation arises because Bloodborne is scheduled for server maintenance on a date when major PlayStation announcements are expected.
Could a Bloodborne announcement be coming soon?
FromSoft News, a dedicated FromSoftware news account on X, recently shared a post that caught the attention of Bloodborne fans. They confirmed that the acclaimed game's servers are scheduled for maintenance in a few days, sparking excitement and speculation about what could be coming.
Specifically, the server maintenance will take place on December 3. PlayStation fans are especially thrilled because this date coincides with the brand’s 30th anniversary celebration. Furthermore, a recent trailer hinted that Sony might have a few announcements planned for the occasion.
That said, this could be a mere coincidence, as neither PlayStation nor FromSoftware has hinted at any announcements tied to Bloodborne. Additionally, server maintenance doesn’t necessarily indicate upcoming news.
Still, fans of the game remain hopeful, believing that December 3 could bring a major announcement about the franchise. The community dreams once again of a PS5 remaster, a PC port, or even confirmation that a sequel is in the works.
“I personally confirmed the maintenance message. The maintenance is REAL. Whether this is something big or not remains to be seen. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the rumored PlayStation event and this maintenance are happening on the same day.”
Bloodborne is a landmark title for FromSoftware
On multiple occasions, FromSoftware has emphasized the importance of Bloodborne in its history as a studio. Hidetaka Miyazaki, the studio’s head, has expressed amazement at the impact the game has had among its community and fans.
"I poured many of my ideas into this game, whether in the story, the world-building elements, or even its gameplay mechanics and systems. It’s perhaps the most intense reflection of my style of game design that you can experience," the creator shared months ago.
He also acknowledged the fans’ desire for a re-release and admitted that FromSoftware would love to see a PC port of the game. Despite this enthusiasm, a new version of the title has yet to come to fruition.
