A modder transformed the $699.99 USD console into a unique and eye-catching project

Since Sony announced the PlayStation 5 Pro, the community has debated whether the $699.99 USD console is the best alternative compared to a PC at a similar price point. With this in mind, a modder came up with a crazy idea: buy Sony's latest console and turn it into a powerful gaming PC.

As expected, the project caught the attention of many players, as only a few would dare to purchase such an expensive system just to modify it immediately—especially when there’s a risk of damaging it and losing a significant amount of money in the process.

However, Techmagnet, the person behind the project, is a hardware enthusiast and content creator known for his modifications. The good news is that he documented part of the process of creating his unique gaming PC, which he named the PS5 Pro H2.0.

Modder turned the PS5 Pro into a gaming PC

In a fun and entertaining video just over a minute long, Techmagnet showcases a time-lapse of how he opens a brand-new PlayStation 5 Pro and carefully disassembles it to extract its components. His goal was to keep the most essential part—the mainboard featuring Sony’s technology.

He then places it into a white case where he had already prepared other components to enhance his customized PC, such as a liquid cooling system and, of course, plenty of RGB lights that give it the stylish look every gamer desires for their computer.

Additionally, he added custom parts with the PlayStation logo and the console’s name. The finishing touch is a display on the case that can project various images, giving it an impressive look. The creator used this feature to add an anime-inspired touch to the PC.

Many players were impressed with the results, believing the PC looks much better and significantly improves the original console’s appearance. However, some criticisms also surfaced. Below, you can watch the video of its creation:

The PS5 Pro 2.0 divided the community’s opinion

Some players congratulated Techmagnet, stating that the Sony-powered PC turned out great. However, many others were disappointed, noting that the modder did not demonstrate the system's actual functionality. As a result, some claimed the project only involved aesthetic changes.

On the other hand, Techmagnet faced criticism from PlayStation fans who argued that modifying the console in such a way makes no sense. Lastly, some players joked about the project, claiming they also wanted a "PC5."
