ASTRO BOT and Super Mario Bros. share a key similarity: both are outstanding platforming franchises that have delivered countless hours of fun to PlayStation and Nintendo players, respectively.

As expected, TEAM ASOBI's game has often been compared to Nintendo’s flagship series, as it draws clear inspiration from many of its innovations over the years. This has led some fans to dream of a crossover between Astro Bot and Mario.

A player decided to make this dream come true with Astro Bot X Nintendo World, a project that blends the universes of these franchises in a game unlikely to sit well with Nintendo or Sony. Fans are concerned about the project, fearing that the companies may sue its creator.

An official crossover between ASTRO BOT and Super Mario Bros. is highly unlikely, but a player known as HotzTendo decided to bring it to life using their skills with Unity. This led to the creation of Astro Bot X Nintendo World, a game that places PlayStation's beloved character in Nintendo's iconic worlds.

To showcase progress, HotzTendo recently shared several videos across social media and forums. These clips depict Astro Bot exploring areas from Super Mario Bros. universes, such as Peach’s Castle from Super Mario Odyssey.

Another video showcases a boss fight against a dinosaur in a setting reminiscent of Bowser’s Fury from Super Mario 3D World, with a touch of Super Mario Galaxy.

The developer explained they used tools like Unity, Photoshop, and Premiere to create and share progress on the project. They also clarified they have no plans to release the game publicly, emphasizing that it’s a non-profit experiment.

The community was impressed by the results, with some fans wishing for an official crossover. However, the likelihood of this happening is minimal. Below are some videos of the project:

Fans are worried about the game and its creator

Players have praised HotzTendo for Astro Bot X Nintendo World but expressed concerns over the project and its creator. The main issue is that the game clearly violates PlayStation and Nintendo’s intellectual property policies.

For one, it uses the companies’ characters without authorization. Additionally, it involves homebrew to run the game on a PlayStation 5. Fans fear that the developer may soon receive an unwelcome visit from the companies’ legal teams.
