The design and technical specifications of the Switch 2 remain a mystery, but Nintendo has already revealed some details about its next console. Recently, the Japanese company confirmed that its upcoming hardware will feature backward compatibility, allowing it to play current Switch games.

Why Switch 2 Will Be Backward Compatible
Backward compatibility has always been a feature in high demand from players, regardless of platform. Some companies, like Xbox, have heavily invested in it, creating the best backward compatibility experience on the market. While PlayStation has previously downplayed its potential, it now also offers this feature.

During a meeting with investors, Shuntaro Furukawa was asked about backward compatibility for Switch 2. He confirmed that this feature will serve as a benefit for players who invested in Switch and its games.
"Many consumers are playing Nintendo Switch, so we decided the best course was to ensure they can play the Nintendo Switch software they’ve already purchased on the Nintendo Switch successor."

The Reveal of Switch 2 is Coming Soon
Recently, Furukawa also spoke about the upcoming reveal of Switch 2. He affirmed that their plans remain unchanged, so it won’t be long before we learn more about Nintendo’s new and anticipated hardware.
