Death Stranding divided players' opinions with its unique concept, true to a Hideo Kojima game. Despite this, the adventure starring Sam Porter Bridges earned a special place among fans of the Japanese creator. Originally, it debuted for PS4 in 2019 and arrived on PC a year later.

The game also had a Director's Cut version for PS5, computers, and Apple devices. Surprisingly, it was added to Microsoft’s PC Game Pass service but didn’t release on Xbox consoles—until now.

Kojima Productions and 505 Games announced a surprise port of Death Stranding: Director’s Cut for Xbox Series X|S. Best of all, the game has already launched and is available at half price for a limited time.

Through social media, the companies surprised fans by announcing Hideo Kojima’s game for Xbox. Xbox Series X|S users can now experience this unusual adventure, both praised and criticized alike.

The game’s regular price on Xbox is $39.99 USD, but it will be available at 50% off for a limited time. This means interested buyers can get it for only $19.99 USD. This offer is valid for the next 15 days only.

Another great piece of news is that the title is part of the Play Anywhere program. This means if you buy it, you can enjoy it on both Xbox consoles and PC at no additional cost. Naturally, it includes support for achievements and cloud saves.

In case you’re wondering, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is not available on Xbox Game Pass. As mentioned, it was previously available on PC Game Pass, so there is a chance it could join the console gaming service in the future. However, nothing is confirmed for now.

Will Death Stranding 2 also come to Xbox?

Currently, Kojima Productions is working on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, a sequel that, for now, is confirmed for PlayStation 5. With the first installment now on Xbox Series X|S, many players are wondering if the new release will also come to Microsoft’s consoles.

In fact, there are already posts on social media questioning Kojima Productions about this. Unfortunately, the studio hasn’t responded, and it’s unlikely they will anytime soon. While nothing is confirmed, there’s a possibility that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach could release on other platforms after an exclusivity period on PlayStation 5.
