The wait to learn about the company’s new hardware won’t be too long

For years, reports have circulated about an imminent reveal of the Switch 2, the successor to Nintendo's successful hybrid console. Although the hardware has become an open secret, the company has remained firm, revealing no details about its upcoming system.

This morning, Nintendo shared its latest financial report, which included information about its future. Shuntaro Furukawa, Nintendo's president, broke the silence on the Switch 2 and confirmed that their new console will be revealed in the coming months, before the end of Q1 2025.

Previously, Nintendo confirmed it would give a glimpse into its future sometime between the end of 2024 and early 2025. Players had expected information on Switch 2 by the end of October, but that didn’t happen. Instead, the company revealed other projects, such as Alarmo and Nintendo Music.

Good news for fans eager to learn about the Switch successor: Furukawa reaffirmed that the plans for its reveal have not changed for now. This means the new hardware could still be revealed sometime this year.

Alternatively, Nintendo may choose to wait until 2025. If so, the system would be revealed between January and March, but not later unless plans change unexpectedly.

The executive didn’t offer further specifics, so the Switch 2 reveal could happen at any time from now until March 31 of next year. Fans will have to remain patient and continue waiting for its launch event.

What’s next for Switch as its successor approaches?

Nintendo’s current console has been on the market for eight years but will remain active for some months as it awaits the reveal of its successor. The system will receive games like Mario and Luigi: Brothership, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, and the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4: Beyond in the coming months.

Additionally, reports indicate that the Switch will stay active in 2025 with a series of remasters, as companies like Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Bandai Namco Entertainment, and others will reportedly continue to support it.
