The Wii U was a resounding failure despite having great games in its catalog. Fortunately, the success of the Switch allowed Nintendo to rescue most of them with improved re-releases or additional content. However, there’s an acclaimed Wii U title that still hadn't made the leap to Switch, despite player requests.

We’re referring to Xenoblade Chronicles X, an RPG by Monolith Soft and one of the standout titles on Nintendo’s previous console. This morning, the company announced what many fans have awaited for years: a port of the game for the hybrid console.

The Xenoblade Chronicles series has become a flagship for Nintendo in the RPG arena. Most of its entries are already available on Switch, but Xenoblade Chronicles X has been the exception. The good news is that this will change early next year.

Through their social media, Nintendo announced Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition, a port coming to the hybrid console with improvements and new content. We know that the title will look better compared to its Wii U version and will also feature additional story elements.

Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition will be available on March 20, 2025, so the wait will be just a few more months. The game originally debuted in April 2015 and received excellent reception among series fans and genre enthusiasts.

The game is known for its massive open world and interesting sci-fi-infused narrative. Critics praised its challenging and entertaining battles in gigantic robotic exoskeletons known as Skells and the spectacular setting of Mira, the planet where the story unfolds.
