2025 Could Be a Year of Remasters for Nintendo Switch; Ubisoft, EA, and More Companies Expected to Continue Supporting the Console

A reliable source revealed alleged third-party projects in development for Nintendo's console

Despite fans eagerly awaiting the announcement of the rumored Nintendo Switch 2, the Japanese company shows no signs of making an announcement soon. It seems Nintendo will extend the original Nintendo Switch lifespan as far as possible within the timeframe it hinted at for the next generation reveal, while also implementing strategies to keep the Nintendo Switch thriving.

In each generational transition, companies don't abandon their previous console immediately after a new one launches. The Nintendo Switch will be no exception, as a supposed report from a reliable source suggests Nintendo may already be preparing for this intergenerational period.

The Nintendo Switch Could Receive Many Third-Party Remasters in 2025

According to PH Brazil, the Japanese company reportedly contacted its partners to request remasters for the Nintendo Switch as part of its plan to continue providing content for players who might not immediately upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2.

The source claims these companies include Ubisoft, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Electronic Arts, and a major Western-based company.

The projects reportedly include multiple titles, with the French company working on remasters of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist, Rayman 3, Driver, and Driver 2 (with a possible return of Driver: San Francisco also mentioned). The informant noted two additional projects but offered no further details.

Details on the projects by Bandai Namco Entertainment and the major Western company remain unrevealed. However, it's anticipated that Electronic Arts is preparing remasters of Nintendo Wii games.

Additionally, PH Brazil noted the ongoing development of a Nintendo 3DS game remaster and another from Nintendo GameCube, with a projected release gap of about two months between them. The source chose not to disclose the titles of these games.
