Satya Nadella reaffirmed the strategy shift for the gaming division.

In recent days, new reports have emerged regarding Microsoft and Xbox's multiplatform strategy. On the one hand, it was said that important games from the company were already planned for PlayStation 5, including Avowed, Blade, Perfect Dark, Fable, and Gears of War: E-Day.

On the other hand, it was reported that the news of the port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle for PS5 was not well received, so Xbox's upcoming releases for Sony's console were “paused” or “slowed down,” but not canceled.

Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s president and CEO, recently spoke about the topic to clarify definitively what direction Xbox will take. In a letter addressed to shareholders, he made it clear that the future of Xbox is multiplatform, and more games will be released on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles.

As part of its annual report, Microsoft published a letter addressed to shareholders. It discusses its strategy for the future of its various divisions. Of course, there is a section dedicated to video games and the achievements Xbox has achieved throughout the year.

Satya Nadella highlights the acquisition of Activision Blizzard and the role that Xbox Cloud Gaming, a cloud gaming service, has played in bringing games to a broader audience. He emphasized that one of their missions is to offer “great games to more people on more devices”.

He also referenced the arrival of Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi RUSH, and Sea of Thieves on PlayStation and Nintendo consoles. He made it clear they will continue to expand their content to new platforms in the future without revealing details about which games might be coming to other consoles.

"Finally, we brought four of our fan-favourite titles to Nintendo Switch and Sony PlayStation for the first time, as we continue to extend our content to new platforms," Nadella stated.

According to recent reports, this new strategy from Microsoft and Xbox is known internally as Project Latitude. According to the details, there is still no consensus on whether it’s a good idea to bring most Xbox games to competitor consoles.

It is said that Xbox studios are currently working on several projects that are being considered for PlayStation. Interestingly, the plan would have no restrictions, which would open the doors for any Xbox game to come to PS5. Some reports have mentioned that certain franchises, like Halo and Gears of War, could be a sort of red line that may not be crossed.
