Yesterday, it was revealed that the team behind one of the best games of the year was disbanded, but the good news is that they are now working on one of the most anticipated comebacks in gaming.
Ubisoft is Working on a Rayman Remake, According to a Reliable Source
According to an exclusive report from Insider-Gaming, the end of the development team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has turned into something positive, as some of the creatives who worked on that project have joined a more ambitious one. This new project is a remake of Rayman, a franchise that debuted in the 90s and became one of the best 2D and 3D platformers.
The report states that this remake is being developed at Ubisoft Milan and is codenamed Project Steambot. The name Michel Ancel, the creator of this IP, inevitably comes up, and according to sources, he is only participating as a consultant after leaving Ubisoft following a workplace scandal.
Additionally, the fate of the developers from Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown who joined the Rayman remake sheds light on what happened to the rest of their colleagues. The report mentions that some have moved on to work on Beyond Good & Evil 2, while others are already working on the next installment of Ghost Recon.
While Ubisoft's current situation is turbulent, the future looks promising, especially as new projects emerge for franchises that took the company to the top before Assassin's Creed. A remake of Splinter Cell is known to be in development, and the creative process for Beyond Good & Evil 2 finally seems to have direction. Add to that the unofficial Rayman remake and whatever comes next for Ghost Recon.
