Adapting a video game into a live-action film or series is no easy task, especially when it involves fantasy or mythology. It’s easy to imagine a God of War series, but pulling it off is another story. Recently, it was revealed that the original production had been restarted after the producers left. Sony and Amazon wasted no time, and today the new showrunner has been announced, who will steer the project in the right direction.

Ronald D. Moore brings with him the success of two popular TV productions: Outlander for Starz and For All Mankind for Apple TV. However, his name is most recognized in the world of science fiction, where he served as writer and producer for several episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which aired from 1988 to 1994. In the following years, he remained connected to the franchise through Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.

In the early 2000s, Ronald D. Moore achieved critical acclaim as creator and producer of the hit sci-fi series Battlestar Galactica, a reimagining of the original 1978 TV story.

According to reports, Ronald D. Moore will write a new story that aligns with the creative expectations of Sony and Amazon for God of War, as Rafe Judkins' previous work failed to convince the companies, despite multiple scripts being presented. It’s confirmed that the live-action series will be set in Kratos and Atreus’ Norse arc, the most recent one, and will not focus on the titles where Kratos fought the Olympian gods in Ancient Greece. With this in mind, Moore will start the project from scratch, and it might be some time before we hear more, but the good news is the show is still in progress.
