Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is here, and in many ways, it is everything we hoped for. It also embraces modern trends by featuring an online mode where we can fight against other players. However, the developers won’t hesitate to punish those who jeopardize the integrity of online matches.
The title from Spike Chunsoft offers a competitive mode where players can join casual matches for fun or ranked fights where they climb the leaderboards. It's in these ranked battles that fans play seriously to win and improve their ranking.
However, as in most fighting games, many players quit matches to avoid losing points or out of sheer frustration. The development team is aware that this could be a problem and compromise the experience, so they are taking measures to address it.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will ban players who quit online matches
To encourage players to finish their fights and ensure a fair competitive environment, Bandai Namco will punish those who repeatedly leave fights early or engage in “disruptive behavior” in the online mode of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO.
In a post on their support site, the company detailed how the penalty system will work for ranked matches in the fighting game. According to the information, the matchmaking time to find opponents will increase depending on the severity of the offense.
The developers warn that if multiple penalties are accumulated regularly, players could receive an indefinite suspension, preventing them from participating in ranked matches in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. This measure aims to prevent players from quitting matches.
However, Bandai Namco warns that penalties will be applied uniformly and without exception. This essentially means that all players will be affected, whether they disconnected intentionally or due to network issues.
Spike Chunsoft clarifies that bans will be gradually lifted as players complete matches normally in the game’s competitive mode. They also note that their customer service will not handle individual requests to remove punishments.
These measures have sparked mixed reactions within the Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO community. While many agree and believe the suspensions will prevent players from quitting matches, others feel the penalties are too harsh.
Since its release, the title based on Akira Toriyama’s manga has been embroiled in controversy. Many players believe that Yajirobe is too strong and ruins the online experience, while others warn that some users are using mods to gain a competitive advantage.
But tell us, what do you think of these measures? Do you find them fair or too harsh? Let us know in the comments section.
