Despite its ups and downs, Metal Slug remains one of the most popular arcade-style action franchises of all time. The franchise will soon showcase its potential in the strategy genre with the release of Metal Slug Tactics, a title that caught a lot of attention since its reveal.

The project by Leikir Studio and DotEmu didn't have a release date yet, as it was delayed several times. Fortunately, that changed this morning, as the studios finally confirmed when their tactical title will be ready. The good news is that it will indeed arrive this year.

Through a statement, Leikir Studio and DotEmu shared the news that all franchise fans had been waiting for: Metal Slug Tactics is finally ready to debut and will be playable in just a few weeks.

In case you don’t remember, Metal Slug Tactics will retain the classic essence of the franchise and give it a very interesting strategic twist. Donald Morden will return after a long absence to stage a coup, so the players' mission will be to stop him at all costs.

The game will feature roguelite and RPG elements, an attractive pixel art visual style, 110 hand-crafted maps and 20 different types of missions, providing plenty of replayability and a good challenge. There will also be boss fights and an appealing cast of iconic playable characters.

Franchise fans can already mark their calendars, as Metal Slug Tactics will be available on November 5th. It will be playable on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Below you can check out the latest trailer:
