Silent Hill 2 has been a success, acclaimed by both critics and players

Silent Hill is a franchise that spent years dormant, but Konami felt it was time to change the narrative. That's why they brought it back with several projects, including an acclaimed remake of Silent Hill 2, developed by Bloober Team. While the future of the series is uncertain, the Polish studio is interested in working on more entries in the franchise.

Bloober Team expresses interest in continuing to work on Silent Hill

Recently, IGN interviewed Wojciech Piejko, director and designer at Bloober Team, during the reveal of Cronos: The New Dawn, their new project. During the conversation, the topic of Silent Hill came up, and the developer expressed willingness to return to Konami’s iconic horror franchise.

“I think we are always open. If we like the opportunity, we will take it. There are opportunities you have to seize. Like with Silent Hill 2, you can remake the legend. So yes, I think anything is possible,” Piejko said.

Now, does this mean we will see remakes of games like Silent Hill or Silent Hill 3? Not necessarily. After all, Konami has to decide to fund those projects and assign them to Bloober Team.

That being said, considering that Silent Hill 2 is becoming a commercial success, it’s very likely that Konami is interested in continuing to work with Bloober Team on future projects.

Silent Hill 2 has been a sales success

A few days ago, Konami revealed that Silent Hill 2 sold 1 million copies in its first week on the market. Considering it launched alongside releases like Metaphor: ReFantazio and Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO, which sold far more copies in less time, this may seem modest, but the reality is different.

What we mean is that Silent Hill is a franchise that, as of December 2018, had sold only 9 million copies in total. So, in just one week, Silent Hill 2 managed to sell 1/10th of the franchise's total sales, making it a success for Konami.

What did you think of this news? Would you like to see another Silent Hill remake by Bloober Team? Let us know in the comments.

Silent Hill 2 is now available for PlayStation 5 and PC. You can learn more about this project by clicking here.
