Service users won't be able to enjoy Activision's FPS with promotions

In a few days, Xbox Game Pass will receive very appealing games in its catalog, including day 1 releases from Activision. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the big release of the month for the service, so many fans of the franchise plan to enjoy it through a subscription.

To some people’s surprise, Xbox removed one of the best deals from the service, making it impossible to play the FPS and other attractive releases with promotions. As you probably know, Microsoft has offered Xbox Game Pass for only $1 USD or $10 MXN on various occasions. This was meant to attract new players so they could experience the service’s benefits and become monthly subscribers.

This attractive offer has disappeared and returned multiple times. Unfortunately for some players, it has vanished again just days before the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. That’s not all; the free trial period for Xbox Game Pass has also disappeared.

Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard to further enhance the Xbox Game Pass catalog. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a very important release, so it’s only natural that the company wants to maximize its profits with full-price subscriptions.

Despite this, some players are disappointed that the company has removed the $1 USD or $10 MXN offer and the free trial period to try the service. It seems that more than a few were planning to enjoy the FPS through one of these alternatives.

The first offer recently disappeared, while the 14-day trial period was no longer available as of October 8. This way, Microsoft prevented players from accessing the shooter with a promotion on October 25, the game’s release day.

As expected, part of the community is disappointed by this move from the tech giant, especially since it’s not the first time something like this has happened. Shortly before the release of Starfield, Microsoft also removed all Xbox Game Pass offers.

The company hopes that Activision’s saga's success will help boost its service’s subscriptions, which have failed to meet growth targets for several consecutive years. This is crucial for its strategy, as Microsoft stated that Xbox might leave the market if Game Pass doesn’t grow enough by 2027.
