What hardware changes does the Xbox Series X digital version feature, and how do they benefit players?

The rumored Xbox Series X digital was confirmed by Microsoft months ago, and it's now available in select markets. This is a more affordable version of Xbox’s most powerful console. Since its announcement, the system drew attention with its Robot White design and the absence of a disc drive, making it a console built solely for digital games. Additionally, there are minor changes in connectivity, but it retains the same overall design, with notable internal changes.

According to The Verge, YouTuber Austin Evans has already torn down the digital Xbox Series X to examine the changes beyond aesthetics. One key change he highlights is a redesigned motherboard, with some components reduced or removed, such as the missing SSD shield.

Additionally, the System on Chip (SoC) in the digital Xbox Series X is now a 6nm version, a change linked to modern chip manufacturing processes, which allows more processors to be produced per wafer.

This SoC change has an immediate impact, as the YouTuber notes, reducing energy consumption compared to the disc-based Xbox Series X, both in standby mode and when running games, apps, and cloud gaming.

Moreover, the heat dissipation system has also changed. In this version of Xbox Series X, Microsoft opted for a traditional design, featuring copper pipes within the vapor chamber. While the analysis indicates no significant differences in temperature or noise levels, it does highlight more efficient energy usage, aligning with Microsoft's goal of removing unnecessary internal components and focusing on energy savings.

If you're interested in this new Xbox Series X model, it will be available in Mexico starting October 29, with pre-orders currently open at a price of $11,699 MXN, and options for interest-free payments.
