Dragon Ball Daima has generated great excitement with the release of its first episode. The series, created by the legendary Akira Toriyama, not only introduced new characters and emotions, but also brought significant changes to the canon of the franchise. One of the most impactful revelations suggests a contradiction with the events of Dragon Ball Super.

How does Dragon Ball Daima alter the canon of Dragon Ball Super?

The first episode of Dragon Ball Daima takes place immediately after the Buu saga in Dragon Ball Z. At this point, the Z Warriors are still digesting the consequences of that epic battle.

One of the key moments is when Shin and Kibito use the Potara earrings to fuse into Kibito-Shin. According to canon, this fusion should be permanent, unlike temporary fusions like Vegetto, Gogeta, or Gotenks. However, in Dragon Ball Super, the two characters separate using a wish from the Namekian Dragon.

Since Daima takes place before Super, the surprise was immense when Shin and Kibito were shown as separate entities. Even the Z Warriors were shocked by this. According to Shin and Kibito, their fusion was undone due to a mysterious gas produced by Majin Buu, which also explains why Vegetto separated after being absorbed by Super Buu.

“It seems that Majin Buu’s body produces a mysterious gas that can reverse a Potara fusion,” Kibito explained to Goku in the first episode of Dragon Ball Daima.

What does this mean for the Dragon Ball canon?

It’s still unclear what the full impact of this change will be on the story of Dragon Ball Daima. It’s possible that future episodes will lead Shin and Kibito to fuse again, or maybe the series will reveal that Daima takes place in an alternate universe. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this change affects the Dragon Ball narrative and how it ties into future episodes of Daima.
