Despite being over 20 years old, the official anime of One Piece remains one of the most popular, thanks to its fun stories and iconic characters. Everything was sailing smoothly, but now there's disappointing news for fans who eagerly awaited a new episode each week.

This week, Toei Animation confirmed that Luffy and his crew will be taking a break. In essence, the anime will go on hiatus, and fans will have to wait months to watch new episodes adapting the Egghead Arc.

The animation studio announced that the official anime based on Eiichiro Oda’s manga will be temporarily suspended, with a return scheduled for April 2025. At that time, new episodes covering the second part of the Egghead Arc will air.

The Japanese company explained that the break is intended to let the animators “recharge” their energy, which makes sense considering that the One Piece anime has aired without interruption for a long time. Fortunately, they won’t leave fans empty-handed.

Toei Animation revealed plans to air a program called the “One Piece Fan Letters Special,” a celebration for the 25th anniversary of the anime, featuring never-before-seen content. Additionally, during the hiatus, a new edition of the Fish-Man Island Arc will be broadcast.

This special version of the Fish-Man Island Arc will run for 21 episodes and feature enhanced visuals. Crunchyroll confirmed on its official website that it will stream these episodes as they air in Japan.

So, what about Eiichiro Oda's manga? According to reports, the manga will continue its regular publication, so fans can still follow the latest adventures of Luffy and his crew despite the anime’s break.
