After a 14-year wait, PC players will finally be able to enjoy a port of Red Dead Redemption at the end of this month. Many Rockstar Games fans are excited, as John Marston’s adventure will arrive on PC with multiple improvements and the Undead Nightmare DLC.
However, not all Steam and Epic Games Store players are happy with this release, as one particular detail has led some to protest and claim they won’t be buying it despite being eager to play. The issue in question is the price of Red Dead Redemption on PC.
Players criticize the price of Red Dead Redemption on PC: How much will it cost?
When Rockstar confirmed the port of Red Dead Redemption for PC, they didn’t reveal its price, which caught the attention of some players who were already anticipating bad news for their wallets. Now, it has been confirmed that the game will sell for $49.99 USD on Steam and Epic Games Store.
Some fans believe the price is a bit high, but think it will be worth it since the port will support 4K resolution and 144 Hz. Additionally, it will be compatible with scaling technologies like Nvidia DLSS 3.7 and AMD FSR 3.0, as well as ultrawide monitors.
On the other hand, part of the community feels the price is excessive and that Rockstar should offer the port at a reduced price, even though it has never debuted on PC. For this reason, some players have said they won’t buy it.
“Yeah, i would pay full price for the full game, multiplayer included, 14 years ago,” stated one fan clearly upset with the cost of the title.
“Since it's a game I've already played, I'll just wait for a good sale. No rush, especially since there's basically no changes from the original,” said another player who plans to be patient.
It's worth mentioning that the title recently arrived on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The console port was also priced at $49.99 USD. Despite this, some PC players had hoped their version would be at least slightly cheaper.
