After a long wait, Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, the latest installment in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, is finally available to a wide audience. Like previous titles, there's a ton of content to unlock, from hidden characters to alternate costumes. Luckily, there are various methods to unlock all fighters.

The latest game from Spike Chunsoft features the largest roster in the franchise's history, with a total of 182 fighters available at launch. While most are accessible from the start, many are hidden and require certain actions to unlock for free use in battle.

By focusing on the story mode and completing tournaments, you’ll unlock the majority of characters. However, there are faster methods to help complete the roster quicker.

How to Unlock All Characters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO

The first method to unlock hidden fighters in Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO is by completing specific chapters in the Battle Episode mode, which covers key events from Akira Toriyama’s manga.

The second way to unlock characters is by collecting Dragon Balls, earned through completing Zeno-Sama's challenges, Whis's wishes, or by finishing regular battles. Once you gather all 7, you can summon Shenron, Porunga, or Super Shenron, depending on the context.

The third method involves participating in tournaments, like the World Martial Arts Tournament or the Tournament of Power. Winning these events unlocks new characters, regardless of the difficulty level.

Another way to complete the roster is by participating in Custom Battles created by the developers, which feature special rules and unique victory conditions.

It’s important to note that Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO features 47 unlockable characters, and unlocking them all through purchases would require over 3,000,000 Zeni. Fortunately, there are faster, more convenient ways to unlock them.
