It seems that the new version of the horror game did not capture the attention of Sony console users.

Until Dawn was easily one of Sony's best exclusives during the PlayStation 4 generation, as its structure, reminiscent of a horror movie, was well-received by the vast majority of fans. However, many agree that it still looks great and that a remake is unnecessary. Perhaps for this reason, its re-release has left much to be desired on PS5 and Steam.

After many rumors, Sony Interactive Entertainment confirmed that the famous title by Ballistic Moon would return with a new version for PlayStation 5 and PC made with Unreal Engine 5. While the visual changes and improvements are evident, many believe they weren't needed.

The day finally arrived, and interested players can now purchase the enhanced version of the horror video game on the next-gen console and PC for $59.99 USD; however, it appears that few people answered the call.

Until Dawn had a worse debut than Concord and The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PlayStation 5

Thanks to its partnership with GameInsights, the media outlet TrueTrophies has access to a sample of data from over 3.1 million active PlayStation Network accounts. This allows it to track the debut player count of most new PS4 and PS5 games.

According to the report, Until Dawn did not meet expectations and had a worse debut than Concord, which currently stands as one of the biggest AAA failures in recent history. Recall that the competitive title was pulled from sale and shut down its servers just 2 weeks after launch.

According to the information, the horror game developed by Ballistic Moon had 28.6% fewer players than the multiplayer FPS from Firewalk Studios on PlayStation 5, making it one of Sony's weakest launches in recent years.

To put these numbers into perspective, the portal TrueTrophies states that the player count for Until Dawn was 95.5% lower than that of Astro Bot, one of the best exclusives on PS5. Its launch was also 98.5% weaker compared to The Last of Us Part II Remastered.

It is important to note that these figures are not provided by Sony and represent only a small fraction of the total number of active PSN accounts; however, they serve as a good indicator of general interest in a project.

The situation is also far from ideal on PC. The remake of Until Dawn debuted with mixed reviews due to the PSN requirement and some technical performance issues. Its peak record is just 2,607 concurrent users, well below 77,154 for Ghost of Tsushima and 35,615 for God of War Ragnarök.
