Resident Evil 2 Remake has far exceeded community expectations, becoming one of the best installments in the franchise's history. It has certainly won over dedicated fans by respecting the essence of the original title while also daring to make changes to enhance the experience. Fortunately, a new audience will soon have the opportunity to try it out.
Like many other companies in the gaming industry, Capcom is attempting to expand its offerings and venture into the competitive mobile gaming market. In recent months, they brought major titles from the horror franchise to Apple devices with mixed results, but it seems they have no intention of stopping.
Let’s remember that the acclaimed Resident Evil Village and the popular remake of Resident Evil 4 were released for iPhone, iPad, and Mac in 2023, while Resident Evil 7: Biohazard debuted on those platforms during the summer. Now, it will soon be the turn of the modernized version of the second installment of the franchise.

Resident Evil 2 Remake will arrive on Mac, iPhone, and iPad in December 2024
In June, the Japanese company announced that the remake of Resident Evil 2 would follow in the footsteps of other titles in the saga and be released for mobile devices. However, they did not provide a release date at that time. Now, an official statement in Japanese has revealed that it will debut this year.
Although the announcement did not specify a launch date, the game’s page on the App Store has been updated to set the release for December 31, 2024. Thus, players on Apple’s smartphones, tablets, and computers will be able to play it very soon.
Like the other action franchise titles that are already available for mobile, Resident Evil 2 Remake will be playable on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 16, and all subsequent smartphones from the company. Additionally, it will be compatible with iPads and Macs equipped with at least an M1 chip.
Good news is that the purchase will be universal, as the game will be linked to the user’s Apple ID. Essentially, this means players will be able to play it on iPhone, iPad, and Mac without needing to purchase it individually for each platform.
According to the information present on the App Store, fans will have the ability to try for free the first section of the remake of Resident Evil 2. However, they will need to make a purchase if they want to experience the conclusion of the story involving Leon Scott Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
“You can play a limited part of the base game for free. To try the full game, an in-app purchase is required,” reads the digital store.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether this port will perform well commercially. A recent report indicated that Resident Evil 7: Biohazard had a dismal performance on Apple devices, as only 2,000 people purchased it.
But tell us, will you give the mobile version of Capcom's survival horror a chance? Let us know in the comments.
