While the Western video game industry is struggling with layoffs, cancellations, and delays, the situation in Japan is different. Major companies like Capcom, Nintendo, and Bandai Namco understand that stability and incentives are crucial for workers, which in turn helps create great products. In the case of FROMSOFTWARE, it's no different, and the company has just announced great news for its employees.

FromSoftware raises employee salaries to eliminate financial worries and focus on making video games

In an official statement, FROMSOFTWARE, Inc., the company behind Dark Souls and ELDEN RING, announced an increase in base salaries for its employees. This initiative aims to ensure that workers are financially comfortable and can focus on what they do best: making video games. The company noted that this salary increase will also apply to new hires: "As part of our efforts to create a rewarding work environment, FromSoftware will increase the base salary and starting salary for new graduates. We will continue to work on game development to bring even more excitement and valuable games to our users."

Additionally, the company stated that this raise is part of a strategy to achieve stability and create suitable conditions for game development: "We are working towards stable income and a rewarding work environment where our employees can fully dedicate themselves to development. The increase in the initial base salary is an implementation of this policy."

This is the second time in recent years that FROMSOFTWARE has taken steps to benefit its workers. The first was a salary increase and improved working conditions to retain most of its staff and prevent them from accepting attractive offers from companies like Capcom, Bandai Namco, or Nintendo, as Japan has not experienced a crisis caused by unrealistic expectations in major companies—except in the case of Square Enix—where competition is driven by offering better employment opportunities.
