Suicide Squad fails to rebound: Season 3 of Kill the Justice League debuted with fewer than 300 players on Steam

Despite its resounding failure, the game continues to offer new content to its few fans

It's no secret that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is one of the most spectacular failures of the year. Rocksteady's project promised to be the superhero title that fans had been waiting for years, but it bet on the games-as-a-service model and failed to convince with its proposal.

This led to layoffs at Rocksteady and caused havoc in Warner Bros. Games' finances. Despite this, the project is still active, and its developers haven’t thrown in the towel, hoping that the title will somehow bounce back and its player numbers will improve.

Recently, the game's Season 3 was released, featuring a new playable character and more content. Unfortunately for Rocksteady, this did not solve the issue of the low player count, as fewer than 300 users on Steam are enjoying the new additions.

Rocksteady prepared new content, including weapons, cosmetics, another Battle Pass, and the arrival of Zoe Lawton, the new playable character, to kick off Season 3. Players can enjoy additional missions in Elseworld and find out what happened after Brainiac’s defeat.

However, it seems that the new content wasn’t very appealing to DC fans. This is clear as the updates have just arrived, and the number of players in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League on Steam remains extremely low.

At the time of writing, the title only has 209 users on Valve’s platform. Additionally, its peak player count in the last 24 hours was just 248 users. This once again highlights that Rocksteady’s game is unlikely to recover from its initial failure.

For now, it’s unclear if the studio will continue working on even more content for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Recent rumors suggest that Rocksteady may shift its focus to a new Batman project. The sources mentioned that it wouldn’t be a remaster or remake of previous franchise titles. On the other hand, they claimed that Sony might look to finance it to make it a PlayStation exclusive.
