The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise was hugely successful over two decades ago, debuting at a time when extreme sports, alternative music, and non-mainstream clothing brands perfectly connected with the generation of the time. The franchise dominated for many years, then came its downfall, silence, and an unexpected comeback. But does it have a future? According to the skate legend himself, Tony Hawk, the answer is yes.

The Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and just a few days ago, Tony Hawk fueled excitement by hinting at an important announcement. The IP made a comeback a few years ago with a remastered version of its first two games, which delighted players and revived interest in these types of games—so much so that competing franchise Skate also announced its return.

The much-anticipated moment arrived when Tony Hawk posted a video and message on his official Instagram account, where he shared details about the motivations behind the video game. However, there was no special announcement, though the extreme sports icon did assure fans that the franchise has a future.

Tony Hawk mentioned, "I'm not supposed to say anything about the future of the series, but I can tell you that there is a future."

After the release of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2, the plan was to do the same with the following entries. Unfortunately, Activision Blizzard decided to close the studio behind the successful comeback, Vicarious Visions, leaving the IP in silence once again.

Despite this, Tony Hawk confirmed that the relationship with Activision Blizzard remains active. With his recent post on social media, it’s clear there will be more games, though it's uncertain if it will be Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 or a new installment in the hands of a new team under Microsoft's ownership.
