Aside from the mass layoffs and other controversies, we can confidently say that 2023 was one of the best years in the recent history of gaming. This is thanks to the multiple high-quality releases that earned a place in the hearts of fans. Fortunately, it is now possible to acquire one of the most talked-about titles at a more economical price.
We are referring to Final Fantasy XVI, the latest numbered installment of the popular Square Enix franchise. Although it failed to resonate with some die-hard fans due to its dark story and focus on action, it generally received very positive reviews from the press and players. Currently, it has an average score of 87 on Metacritic.
Those who have never dared to give this AAA game a chance are in luck, as they can now purchase it at a lower price on PlayStation 5 thanks to an attractive permanent discount.

Final Fantasy XVI drops in price and receives the Complete Edition on PlayStation 5
After a long wait, the video game directed by Hiroshi Takai and produced by Naoki Yoshida arrived on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on September 17, 2024. On that platform, it costs $49.99 USD.
Fortunately, players on Sony’s console can now acquire Final Fantasy XVI at the same price. Specifically, Square Enix announced that the standard edition, which only grants access to the original adventure of Clive Rosfield, now costs $49.99 USD on the PS Store, representing a permanent reduction of $20 USD.
Additionally, the Japanese company finally launched the Complete Edition of the JRPG, which includes the base game and the expansions Echoes of the Fallen and The Rising Tide. Interested fans can purchase this version for $69.99 USD, the same price the standard edition had when it was first released in mid-2023.
The good news doesn’t stop here. Now, Final Fantasy XVI includes a gift for the community. Specifically, players who upgrade their copy to version 1.34 will be able to claim the Brave Blade at no cost, a special sword that originally debuted in Final Fantasy V.
With a bit of luck, the price reduction and the PC port release will help boost sales of the action JRPG. While it managed to sell 3 million units in its first week, Square Enix revealed that it did not meet commercial expectations.
Due to this setback, the Japanese company will adopt a multiplatform strategy. Now, will Final Fantasy XVI come to Xbox? It is unknown if a port is on the way, although numerous rumors and hints suggest that it’s only a matter of time before the version for Microsoft’s console is announced.
