For years, there has been direct competition between the major companies in the industry, such as PlayStation and Xbox. This has generated a phenomenon among their fans known as the console war, where technical aspects, game catalogs, and other elements are commonly compared to supposedly determine which system is superior.

Rarely do companies directly comment on this phenomenon, as creatives and other industry members consider it senseless. Shigeru Miyamoto, the legend of Nintendo, spoke about the issue and laughed at its implications for the house of Mario and other franchises.

In a recent interview, the creator asked players not to include Nintendo in the console war, as they have not really tried to compete technically with other companies. He also stressed that Nintendo will continue to innovate in the industry, but in its own way.

Nintendo recently opened an impressive museum in Japan, which takes a comprehensive look at its history, consoles, games, and everything related to its evolution over the decades.

During an interview with Famitsu (via Nintendo Everything), Shigeru Miyamoto explained that the museum will help fans of multiple generations understand what Nintendo truly is. In this way, they will realize that the company is not part of competitions like the so-called console war.

“If the goal is to preserve all of Nintendo’s past assets so that people can understand what Nintendo is (...) It would be great if those people could see it and understand what Nintendo is. I hope that through this, people will understand and refrain from dragging Nintendo into competitions like the so-called ‘console wars,’ which focus on high specs and hardware performance,” Miyamoto said with a laugh.

On the other hand, the creator emphasized that Nintendo has always leveraged current technology in clever ways to offer something innovative to its players. The plan is to continue down this path in the long term and, moreover, to expand the brand's reach with all kinds of projects.

“Nintendo will continue to use the various technologies available today to create things in a way that’s unique to Nintendo. We’re not just limited to games; we’ll also be involved in films and will continue to create a variety of entertainment content. I thought this would be a good opportunity for people to understand that, and that’s why we made this,” Miyamoto concluded.
