Ghost of Yotei: Who is the protagonist of the PlayStation 5 game? Will Jin Sakai appear?

One of the most striking elements is that it will feature a brand-new protagonist, and many are wondering: Who is the protagonist of Ghost of Yotei?

Who is Atsu, the protagonist of Ghost of Yōtei?

Ghost of Yōtei will feature a different protagonist than Ghost of Tsushima. This installment will move on from Jin Sakai to introduce us to Atsu.

For now, Sucker Punch hasn't revealed many details about Atsu. All we know so far is that she is a heroine wearing a ghost mask. Additionally, it's confirmed that her story takes place in 1603, near Mount Yōtei.

“We also wanted to keep innovating. To create something fresh yet familiar, we looked beyond Jin Sakai's story and the island of Tsushima, instead focusing on the idea of the Ghost. At Sucker Punch, we love origin stories, and we wanted to explore what it could mean to have a new hero don a Ghost mask and uncover a new legend. This led us to Ghost of Yōtei: a new protagonist, a new story to unfold, and a new region of Japan to explore,” said Sucker Punch.

Will Jin Sakai appear in Ghost of Yōtei?

Now, what does this mean for Jin Sakai, the protagonist of Ghost of Tsushima? Will we see him in Ghost of Yōtei? Most likely not.

The story of Ghost of Yōtei takes place 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. So, by this point in the story, the hero of the first game no longer exists.

That being said, it's possible that Sucker Punch may include some kind of reference to the hero from Ghost of Tsushima. We’ll have to wait for the release of Ghost of Yotei to find out.
