Silent Hill 2 is a PS5 exclusive, confirms Konami, but not forever. When does the agreement with Sony end?

The highly anticipated remake is set to debut in just a few days and will remain on the Japanese console for several months.

The remake of Silent Hill 2 is getting closer and is one of the most awaited games for PS5 and PC users, the platforms on which it will be available at launch. Today, it was reaffirmed that it will be a console exclusive for Sony’s system, and the expiration date of the agreement was also announced, allowing it to debut on other systems, possibly Xbox and the successor to the Switch.

Silent Hill 2 will be exclusive to PS5 until summer 2025

PlayStation and Konami presented a new trailer for the remake of Silent Hill 2, highlighting the particular experience players will have on Sony’s console thanks to the DualSense controller. However, what caught attention, aside from the immersion added by the controller, is that at the end of the video, it was confirmed that it will be exclusive to PS5, and the date it will no longer be exclusive was shared. Both companies informed that the remake of Silent Hill 2 will cease to be a console exclusive on August 10, 2025, after which it will be available on other platforms.

Additionally, the video reminds fans that Silent Hill 2 will debut on October 8 on PS5 and PC, so it won’t be limited to those without Sony's console who have a capable computer to run this anticipated remake.

What experience will players of Silent Hill 2 have with the DualSense on PS5?

Regarding the gaming experience on PS5, Sony showcased that Silent Hill 2 will be playable in 4K and will provide an immersive adventure. This is made possible thanks to the DualSense, and the video demonstrates the various responses the controller will offer.

In this sense, the DualSense will vibrate during attacks against enemies, and players will experience feedback when using the triggers. Additionally, the PS5 controller will display James Sunderland's health status by changing color, so players should keep an eye on the controller’s light—if it’s not green, they’ll need to use medicine to recover before it’s too late.

As if that weren’t enough, Sony announced that Silent Hill 2 will feature 3D Audio support, so players with PULSE 3D headphones will experience a heightened level of immersion.
