Switch 2: images and alleged technical details of Nintendo's next console leaked

Images would show the prototype of the successor of the hybrid console

For months, Switch 2 has been an open secret. Various sources have leaked information about Nintendo's next console, and according to reports, its reveal could be imminent. This morning, images surfaced that immediately caught players' attention, as they allegedly provide the first glimpse of the new hardware.

They were originally posted on a Chinese social network and later made their way to forums like Reddit, where supposed technical system details were also shared. The images show a console quite similar to the Switch we all know, but with adjustments that could be some of the new features Nintendo’s next console will offer. However, we recommend not getting too excited just yet.

The images in question show a hybrid console that looks almost identical to the current Switch. However, there are important differences to note, such as a larger screen, which would be 8 inches.

Additionally, the new Joy-Con would have magnetic supports, along with slight adjustments to the triggers and ergonomics. This aligns with various rumors and reports about the alleged hardware innovations that have been circulating in recent months.

As for technical details, the leaks mention that Switch 2 will have 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of internal storage, and support for HDMI 2.1. Media outlets like VGC back up the leaks; however, it's best to take them with caution and treat them as mere rumors. Primarily because journalists like Tom Warren from The Verge claim that the images were likely made by a 3D printing enthusiast and do not correspond to the actual Switch 2 prototype.

So far, Nintendo has not provided official information about its console. All we know is that it will be revealed sometime during the current fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2025. Sources claim that its presentation could be as early as the end of this month, but the reality is that there's nothing concrete to support this.

It is even said that Nintendo has already secretly presented the hardware and is indeed working on its public worldwide unveiling. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the recent reports, it’s best to wait for the company to make an official statement.
