There is an ongoing debate about which system is better for gaming: a console or a PC? The discussion about these alternatives and their respective pros and cons resurfaced recently following the announcement of the PlayStation 5 Pro, a system that will be sold for $699 USD without accessories.
Many consider that this amount is more than enough to build a good PC and enjoy without any issues what the industry currently has to offer. In the midst of this debate, Hideaki Nishino, one of the directors of Sony Interactive Entertainment, stated that the PlayStation 5 is the best gaming alternative, as computers are difficult to build and configure.
He also pointed out that Sony's focus is very clear. Despite some of their most important exclusives arriving on PC, they will continue to focus on consoles, as is evident with the upcoming release of the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Is a console or a PC better? PlayStation executive joins the debate
In a recent interview with Nikkei (via Push Square), Nishino expressed little concern about the popularity of computers among gamers. He believes that consoles are a better alternative and, of course, recommended playing on PS5.
From his perspective, Sony offers the best alternative in terms of hardware, software, and overall ecosystem. Furthermore, he believes that other systems have several disadvantages. In the case of computers, he argued that they are difficult to build and configure.
Regarding mobile devices, he noted that many of their games have commercials that negatively affect the user experience. In this sense, he stated that PlayStation offers instant quality content. Despite this, he made it clear that their expansion to computers is important, as it allows them to reach new audiences.
“I think that many mobile games have ads, and PCs are difficult to set up. With PlayStation, you can play the content you purchased as soon as you turn it on. The products are clearly displayed in the stores where you buy software, so it’s an intuitive experience.
“We are trying to increase the overall game market by expanding content to PCs. There is no doubt that home consoles will be the core of our business, but by offering titles for devices other than home consoles, we will reach a wider range of customers,” stated Nishino.
