Previous console generations often saw consoles and peripherals become cheaper over time; however, the current economic landscape is very different, and companies face various challenges to maintain business profitability. This time, PlayStation 5 players will need to spend more money if they want to purchase an additional DualSense. The price increase was implemented suddenly and without prior notice in some territories.

DualSense for PlayStation 5 Becomes More Expensive in the United States, Europe, and More Regions

As first discovered by user Wario64 on X, PS5 controllers have increased in price at some major retailers in the United States, such as Best Buy, Target, GameStop, and Walmart. The change has also taken effect at the official PlayStation store in that country.

Unfortunately, the price increase has also hit Australia and some European countries, including the United Kingdom and Spain. It is unknown if these measures will also affect players in Mexico and the rest of Latin America.

According to reports, the standard white DualSense has increased from $69.99 USD to $74.99 USD, while some special color editions have risen from $74.99 USD to $79.99 USD. This means the price increase is only $5 USD or €5 EUR, depending on the territory.

The increase affected the standard version of the PlayStation 5 controller, as well as the Camouflage, Cosmic Red, Galactic Purple, Grey, Midnight Black, Nova Pink, and Starlight Blue models. Sony has not yet commented on the situation, so the real reason behind the price increase remains unknown.

Some speculate that the price hike is related to the imminent announcement of the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro; however, it is difficult to know for sure at this moment. It is worth noting that the increase occurred shortly after the console and its peripherals, including the DualSense, became more expensive in Japan.
