One of the most talked-about topics this week has been the PlayStation 5 Pro, as recent reports suggest its reveal is imminent. Players believe that one of the industry’s most influential creators may have leaked the system and confirmed its existence before Sony's official announcement.
We’re talking about Hideo Kojima, who is currently working on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and other projects. The developer shared an image showing him running some tests on the highly anticipated sequel, which is still in development for PlayStation 5.
What caught players’ attention was a particular detail: Kojima is running the game on a mysterious device, which he chose to cover with a black cloth. Players are convinced that it’s the PlayStation 5 Pro development kit.
It seems Hideo Kojima is already working with the PlayStation 5 Pro
On his X account, Hideo Kojima explained that he has been playing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach to review its gameplay, interface, graphics, sound, effects, and other crucial elements to deliver a great experience to players. While doing so, he takes notes and sends them to the development team for necessary adjustments based on his feedback.
Fans eagerly awaiting the sequel were excited by Kojima’s comment, but another detail also ignited their hype: the system on which the creative is playing is hidden for some unknown reason.
Because of this, many speculated that it might be a PlayStation 5 Pro development kit, as otherwise, the creator wouldn't need to hide the hardware, which is something he does regularly in his photos.
Tom Henderson, a prominent journalist and industry insider, is not as convinced. He stated that the PlayStation 5 Pro development kit looks just like the original console's, so there wouldn’t be any special reason to hide it. He believes Kojima covered it due to the "mystery" that always surrounds development kits and not for any other reason.
Despite this, Kojima’s fans are convinced he is testing Death Stranding 2: On the Beach on the rumored more powerful version of Sony's console. If the system is confirmed, it makes perfect sense that the sequel would be one of the titles enhanced to fully leverage its technology.
According to this week's leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro will be revealed sometime in the first half of September. At the time of writing, Sony has not confirmed the hardware's existence.
