There is excellent news for Sonic the Hedgehog fans, as the first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released this morning. As scheduled, Paramount gave us a great and exciting look at what the new film in SEGA's popular franchise will offer.

Fans of the first 2 movies and gamers won't be disappointed, as the trailer shows Shadow, the iconic character and rival of Sonic, in action. The video confirms recent reports about the character, as he will be played by none other than Keanu Reeves, the renowned actor known for The Matrix, John Wick, among other franchises.

Shadow the Hedgehog is one of the most iconic villains of the franchise, so the new movie will focus on his creation and his relationship with Dr. Robotnik, the antagonist played by Jim Carrey, who will return to cause more trouble.

The first 2 movies in the franchise were a huge success, so it's no surprise that there's great anticipation for the new production. Of course, Keanu Reeves' involvement has fans very excited.

The renowned actors will share the screen with Ben Schwartz (Sonic), James Marsden (Tom Wachowski), Tika Sumpter (Maddie Wachowski), and Lee Majdoub (Agent Stone), who will also return. Additionally, Colleen O'Shaughnessey and Idris Elba will bring Tails and Knuckles to life, respectively.

The trailer shows an exciting showdown between the trio of heroes and Shadow, who won't hesitate to use his great abilities to take down his rivals. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will hit theaters on December 20. You can watch the trailer below:
