The Sims is the undisputed leader when it comes to life simulators, thanks to its easy-to-understand concept that makes it very accessible for anyone. However, diehard fans agree on one thing: the character editor is quite basic. It seems a new contender in the genre has arrived to fill that gap.
We're talking about inZOI, a new video game developed by KRAFTON. For those who haven’t heard of it, it’s worth noting that it’s a life simulator where players can alter almost every aspect of the virtual world to live unique stories and experiences.
This ambitious project is developed with Unreal Engine 5, so the visuals look stunning, with a hyperrealistic finish for both characters and environments. According to the description, players can get jobs to earn money and build relationships with NPCs through interactions.
inZOI promises to offer a wide variety of creative tools that allow players to tailor the experience to their needs. It remains to be seen if it will live up to expectations and manage to dethrone The Sims, but one thing is already certain: its robust customization system is a success.

Free inZOI editor is a hit on Steam, but how long will it be available?
The release date for this title is still unknown, but KRAFTON has set a launch window for late 2024. To make the wait more enjoyable, they shared a new teaser during gamescom’s Opening Night Live, showcasing some of the situations players will experience: from attending weddings to cooking.
Additionally, the developer studio surprisingly launched the inZOI: Character Studio, a free demo that grants access to the extensive character editor for a limited time. This feature caught the attention of thousands of users thanks to its wide range of tools.
The editor offers over 250 customization options, allowing players to change the character's age, name, clothing, and body type. There’s also a plethora of accessories, hairstyles, textures, and more. An interesting feature is that players can use their phones and facial recognition to alter the avatar’s expression.
Naturally, players used this wide array of tools to replicate iconic characters and real-world celebrities in the inZOI editor: from Timothee Chalamet and Taylor Swift to Billie Eilish and Daniel Radcliffe.
As a result, the inZOI: Character Studio became very popular on Valve’s platform. Following its release on August 21, it set a historical record with 18,657 concurrent users. Right now, over 10,000 people are connected.
It’s important to note that the free demo will no longer be available on Steam starting Sunday, August 25, so players have just a few days left to download it and explore all the editor’s options.
