PlayStation 5 Pro: Will Sony's new console debut this year? Insider raises doubts

Sources claim that the console will be revealed and debut in 2024

For months, we've heard rumors about the PlayStation 5 Pro, an enhanced version of Sony's current console with more power and efficiency. However, the company has not given any real indication of its existence. This is despite various insiders claiming that it will be presented soon and will debut at the end of the year.

Tom Henderson, one of the informants who has spoken the most about the system, has now raised doubts about its presentation and release. Recently, he suggested that the PlayStation 5 Pro might be delayed longer than expected and not debut in 2024.

According to various reports, the PlayStation 5 Pro could be revealed in September of this year to debut during the holiday season. If this information is accurate, we would be just a few months away from the revelation of Sony's new hardware.

However, Henderson's statements have raised doubts about the presentation and release date of the more powerful console. The informant was recently questioned about the system's reveal and arrival in stores.

To the surprise of some, he hinted that the system might take longer than expected to arrive. "If it launches this year!" the source simply said. It is worth remembering that this is not the first time Henderson has hinted at a possible delay.

He previously stated that the lack of first-party games might make Sony change the console's release date, as it would be ideal to launch it alongside an attractive lineup of PlayStation Studios games. However, we know that several of their teams are facing problems.

Other sources mention that the console is already ready, but Sony wants to wait to release it alongside Grand Theft Auto VI, the new installment from Rockstar that will debut next year. However, the reality is that nothing is confirmed for now.

What Would the PlayStation 5 Pro Offer?

According to leaks, the PlayStation 5 Pro will have an AMD Zen 2 CPU between 4 and 5 nanometers, with 8 cores and 16 threads. Additionally, it would feature a high-frequency mode to offer processing at 3.85GHz, which is 10% more than the current model.

Another major novelty would be the PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), a scaling technology that promises results similar to Nvidia's Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS). Through artificial intelligence, the performance and appearance of compatible games would be improved.
