Video games have always been an expensive form of entertainment; however, in recent years, the price of games and services has increased significantly. This has impacted the wallets of players, who are finding it increasingly difficult to enjoy the most anticipated releases.
Unfortunately for some players, PlayStation recently increased the cost of its titles in some regions. This has caused games to cost up to $85 USD. As expected, their fans are upset and disappointed with the recent increases.
PlayStation raised the price of its games in this country
On social media, comments from several PlayStation fans can be read, expressing their anger over the recent price increase of games. Specifically, this happened in Turkey, where titles for the Japanese brand's consoles are now priced at $80 or 85 USD.
Players protested, as until a few weeks ago, it was still possible to find games for approximately $60 USD. Many complained about the increase and pointed out that the average salary in Turkey is about $400 USD.
PlayStation fans stated that for many, it will now be practically impossible to buy video games, as prices have skyrocketed, making it very difficult to invest in them. For this reason, they are already considering alternatives, such as playing on PC or Xbox instead of PS5.
"This is happening in a country with an average salary of $400 USD, what the hell? Playing on PC is much cheaper in comparison. I literally can't afford to play on PS5 because of this," said one player, who believes the new prices should be "illegal."
"As a Turkish citizen, I wonder what made Sony think it would be reasonable to sell games here for €80 EUR. We have the same prices as the European Union, but we don’t earn anywhere near what they do. Meanwhile, despite the recent price hike, Microsoft still offers Game Pass at affordable prices in Turkey,” commented another person.
