Some Xbox players are having a tough time as they have been bombarded with messages from strangers. Their console inboxes have been flooded with spam, an issue that has plagued the brand and other platforms for years.
Despite Xbox making efforts to eliminate this nuisance, waves of spam messages are back on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. In response, players have taken to social media to express their frustration and demand a definitive solution from Microsoft.
Spam messages once again flood Xbox consoles
In recent days, various Xbox fans have shared screenshots showing their inboxes filled with messages from unknown accounts offering them credit to purchase games and other content from the brand’s store.
As is evident, these are spam messages that, in some cases, have malicious intentions. Typically, they are used to carry out scams or steal information from victims who click on certain links included in the messages.
Due to the risk this practice poses to the entire community, players raised their voices and asked Microsoft for help through social media. They shared images to prove they have received multiple spam messages from suspicious accounts.
Although users have the option to change their settings to avoid receiving messages from any account, the reality is that this problem has worsened in recent days. At the time of writing, Xbox has not issued a statement on the matter, so it is unclear if they will take action.
On the other hand, it is also important to mention that this is neither a new problem nor one exclusive to Xbox. Other platforms also face it daily, and Microsoft has been attempting to curb it since 2015 with mixed results.
