Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi defined the rules that govern most anime-style arena fighting games. For this reason, there are many expectations surrounding Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, the new installment that promises to modernize the formula. The official release still seems distant, but some lucky fans will soon be able to try an exclusive demo.
The title developed by Spike Chunsoft will debut on October 11, 2024. For months, the developers have shared previews revealing the fighters that will make up the initial roster and some combat system mechanics to make the wait more enjoyable.
The previews look very promising, and players worldwide are eager to try the title themselves. Fortunately, a small group of players will be able to enjoy the fast-paced battles of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO in a few weeks.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will have a playable demo at EVO 2024, confirmed by Bandai Namco
From July 19 to 21, the Evolution Championship Series (EVO), the largest and most popular fighting game event in the world, will take place. This year’s edition will feature tournaments for Street Fighter 6, TEKKEN 8, Guilty Gear -Strive-, Mortal Kombat 1, and more.
Although the main attraction is the matches between professional players, EVO 2024 will also offer other activities for fans to enjoy with other community members. In that line, attendees will be able to play an exclusive demo of Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO.
In a statement, Bandai Namco emphasized that the competitive circuit of TEKKEN 8 will make one of its most important stops at the event, which will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center, United States. Additionally, it confirmed that the game based on Akira Toriyama’s work will make an appearance, though there will be no tournaments.
The Japanese company announced that EVO 2024 attendees would be some of the first players in the world to play the fighting title. Recall that there was a special demo at the Summer Game Fest 2024, but only influencers and members of the press played it.
Bandai Namco did not reveal more details, so it is unknown if the demonstration available at the US event will be different from the one presented at the summer fair. In recent weeks, new characters like Ribrianne, Jiren, and Goku Black from Dragon Ball Super have been revealed.
Now, will the demo eventually be available for download? As of this writing, there is no information suggesting that Xbox, PC, and PlayStation players will be able to play Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO from the comfort of their home through a trial version.
Finally, the game inspired by the animated series from Toei Animation will also be present at the Anime Expo, an event that will open its doors on July 5 in Los Angeles.
