PC gaming is known for the use of keyboard and mouse, and it has been that way for decades. However, the growth of the industry and multiplatform releases have led to the use of controllers like those we know on consoles. In the Xbox One era, along with Bluetooth technology, Microsoft hit the mark, and in recent years, Xbox controllers have become the most used on computers. A recent Steam report shows this.

Increased use of console-type controllers on Steam, and Xbox is the preferred choice

Steam shared information about the use of controllers (via TweakTown) on the platform. To start, Valve notes that there has been an increase in the use of these types of controllers per gaming session, going from 5% in 2018 to 15% currently, confirming that more and more PC players are using controllers like the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Sony’s DualSense, or one from the wide range available on the market from recognized companies.

However, speaking of dominance on Steam, Valve has reaffirmed that the Xbox controller remains the preferred choice for users of this platform on PC. In this regard, the company reveals that currently, of the total players using a controller instead of keyboard and mouse, 59% play with an Xbox controller.
