Metal Gear: the franchise's movie is still on track and there is good news

The production is progressing quietly and promises to satisfy fans

In 2014, a movie based on Metal Gear Solid, the popular franchise created by Hideo Kojima, was announced. The revelation of the project generated immense hype that has gradually faded, as the film seems to be in limbo and fans are somewhat disappointed by the lack of news.

Fortunately, this changed recently, as there is an important update about the project. Ari Arad, the film's producer, confirmed that the adaptation is still on track and that they are continuing to work on the script. He also affirmed that they will do everything to ensure it is a great film that does justice to the saga.

Arad revealed few details about the current state of production, only confirming that they are still working on the script. “We're working on the script some more, but I can't talk about it yet," the creative recently commented.

On the other hand, he was asked whether the film will be a great adaptation like those we've seen recently in cinema and television. From his perspective, the result will be surprising, and he affirmed that they are doing everything to meet fans' expectations.

"I think everyone's going to be really excited and surprised. I think getting Metal Gear right will obviously be amazing because I think it's a lot more meditative than some of the other adaptations. Personally, I want it to be terrific," said Arad.

The last update on the project was in 2022, when Oscar Isaac, the actor chosen to play Solid Snake, also expressed his excitement about what the adaptation will offer. We know that the film is in the hands of Sony Pictures and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts, but there is no further information about the cast or its story.

That said, it is clear that the Metal Gear movie's release is still quite a way off. As mentioned, the project was announced in 2014, so it will be one of the adaptations that has taken the longest to debut.

The franchise has regained strength in recent months thanks to releases like Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Rumors claim that Konami wants to make a remake of the first Metal Gear Solid, but nothing is confirmed yet.
