Ghost in the Shell, the cult franchise by Masamune Shirow, will return thanks to a new animated project. Through its social networks, the studio Science SARU confirmed a new anime of the sci-fi saga that has captivated many since the release of its manga in 1989.

The franchise has been adapted into movies, series, video games and other entertainment products. However, it has been absent for some years. Because of this, the announcement of a new anime has fans of the saga very excited.

Science SARU prepares the return of Ghost in the Shell for 2026

Science SARU is known for outstanding projects such as DAN DA DAN, Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, The Colors Within, Garden of Remembrance, DEVILMAN crybaby, YO-KAI WATCH The movie, among many other productions that have been well received by animation lovers.

Now he is preparing to work with Shirow's popular franchise, known for its appealing cyberpunk setting, action and for exploring themes such as identity, the relationship between humans and machines, consciousness and more.

The new series will simply be called The Ghost in the Shell and is scheduled to premiere on television sometime in 2026. So, the wait will still be a bit long. For now, it has not been confirmed how it will be distributed worldwide.
