Fortnite successfully picked up a popular industry trend and took it to a new level. Since then, Battle Royale are very common and popular, so very important franchises have bet on its model, among them is Call of Duty.
Some gamers believe that Epic Games's Battle Royale ruined the Activision Blizzard saga and other popular shooters. This because it forced various studios to adopt things like Battle Passes, blueprints and other features that it gradually popularized.
Gamers believe that Fortnite ruined Call of Duty
.Fans of Call of Duty believe the saga would be radically different if Fortnite hadn't existed. Activision Blizzard has bet on Battle Royale with Warzone, which incorporates passes, special collaborations and other elements that led Epic Game's game to success.
Because of this, the community believes that Call of Duty and other major franchises would be better without all the influence they have received from Fortnite over the past few years. They think copying their model has been a mistake that has only impacted players.
"It’s quite obvious that CoD, along with many other games tried to replicate the success of Fortnite, and it’s been a disaster. battle passes, blueprints, bundles, two entire battle royale games, it’s crazy. remember when we used to complain about loot boxes? now those are considered the good old days," stated one fan on reddit.
Several players agreed with his stance and also lashed out at Fortnite. Others asserted that Battle Royale is not the only cause of the problem, believing that the ambition of certain companies is the worst of the evils.
There are also players who claim that Call of Duty already had such problems even before the existence of Fortnite, so they believe that Epic's Battle Royale is not the culprit. Others simply believe that the problem is the Battle Royale concept and how it was applied in the industry.
