Report reveals some details about the television project

It's no secret to anyone that Bungie has been trying for years to expand the scope of Destiny and make it a multimedia franchise. We know there's been a project in the works since Sony acquired the studio; however, a report revealed that Bungie and Netflix tried some time ago to bring the saga to television with an animated series that, in the end, was canceled.

According to Paul Tassi, a journalist for Forbes (via Eurogamer), Bungie and Netflix had talks to make an animated series adapting part of the Destiny universe. As is evident, the production never came to fruition as it was cancelled.

The source shared very few details about the project, as he only revealed that the companies stopped it in the planning stage of its script. That said, there is no information about its story, nor is it known what part of the franchise's universe was going to be adapted.

Nor is it known what were the reasons for its cancellation. Fortunately for fans, Sony wants to adapt the saga to film and television. To do so, it hired Gabriel VanHuss, former Warner Bros. Discovery executive, who will be in charge of the multimedia expansion of the franchise.

The executive is currently working on designing and building an entire multimedia strategy for Destiny. For now, neither Sony nor Bungie have announced a project to bring the popular saga to the TV and cinema screens.
