Sony Pictures production will go through a rewriting process

In June 2022, Sony Pictures confirmed that it was working on a live-action movie of One Punch Man. The news surprised everyone and divided the opinion of many fans of the anime and manga created by the artist known as One.

After many months of silence, there is finally news about the project that will bring the action of the franchise to the big screen. Thanks to a recent report, we know that important creatives from Rick and Morty are now involved in the film.

A couple of years ago, we learned that Justin Lin, director of several installments of Fast and Furious, was the chosen one to be the director of the One Punch Man live-action movie. Also, Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker, creatives of Venom, were confirmed as screenwriters.

Now, thanks to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter (via Games Radar), we know that important Rick and Morty creatives joined the project. Dan Harmon, co-creator of the popular saga, will rewrite the film's script.

He will collaborate with Heather Anne Campbell, co-producer of Rick and Morty, on this important task. It is unclear what happened to Lin, Rosenberg and Pinker's work, as the original plans were for production on the film to begin in late 2022.

It is possible that Sony was not satisfied with the original script and has requested reinforcements to improve it and avoid a disaster. However, the reality is that nothing has been confirmed and, for now, there is no further news about the film.

Some fans of the franchise are still worried about this project, since historically live-action adaptations of anime have been a resounding failure, with very few exceptions. We will have to keep waiting for more details about the production.
