Currently, many multiplayer video games are struggling to stand out in an increasingly competitive market. The developers of an interesting horror title are aware of this, which is why they decided to change their business model and opt for the free-to-play approach.
A few weeks ago we talked about Deceit 2, a multiplayer video game that combines elements of horror and social deduction, similar to Dead by Daylight and Among Us. Despite its appealing concept, it has had trouble building a community around it since its original launch on PC.

Deceit 2 is now available for free on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC
This World Makers video game debuted on Steam in 2023; at that time, it cost $9.99 USD, which is $123.99 MXN. The developers believe that this paywall prevented players from giving it a chance, so they removed it and decided to make the title a free experience.
As promised, Deceit 2 is now completely available for free on PC since mid-March. Users can add it to their library and download it at no cost, although they can also purchase premium currency and the Werewolf Pack for $6.99 USD.
Additionally, the multiplayer horror game arrived on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 in early April. One good news is that there is cross-play, meaning that players from all platforms can play together without restrictions. World Makers indicated that there are still plans to release versions for Xbox One and PS4.
It is unknown whether the switch to the free-to-play format will yield long-term results, but at least it has significantly increased the number of players on PC. After becoming a free game, Deceit 2 surpassed its previous record of 731 connected people and achieved a peak of 3228 concurrent users in March.
What is Deceit 2?
Deceit 2 is a horror video game where up to 9 players must work together to escape a ritual by performing specific tasks throughout the map. The interesting twist is that there are 2 infected members who will try to hinder the mission anonymously, and that's where the elements of social deduction come in. Similar to Among Us, participants must find the traitors before it's too late.
