The next big project from Bend Studio remains uncertain

Loved by many and disliked by others, it's undeniable that live service games are gold mines. Therefore, it's not surprising that PlayStation is investing in such experiences and working on multiple projects that will feature online multiplayer elements.

Although reports suggest that the company's studios are not happy with live service games, there are already multiple projects in the pipeline following this business model: from Marathon by Bungie to Concord by Firewalk Studios.

For better or for worse, it seems that Bend Studio, the company behind the divisive Days Gone, is also working on a live service game.

Bend Studio's next title, developer of Days Gone, might be a live service game

Reports suggest that years ago, Days Gone 2 was canceled, the sequel that would have had cooperative elements and certain similarities to The Division and Destiny. Jeff Rose, former creative director of the first installment, criticized PlayStation for discarding the project.

However, it is known that the development studio is working on a new title, but most details remain unknown. According to a cryptic message posted on social media earlier this year, it seems that their next video game will be a new IP.

A job listing hinted that Bend Studio's project would have a multiplayer component. Now, new job postings suggest that these online components will go further and shape the overall core of the experience. As discovered by GameRant (via TheGamer), the company is looking for personnel to lead a live service game.

Bend Studio is seeking a lead project manager, who will be responsible for leading a team through key development phases, including "pre-production, production, and live services." Additionally, candidates are required to have "hands-on experience in game development in leadership roles on AAA live service games".

It is unknown when this job posting was posted on Bend Studio and PlayStation's website, so it is a mystery how advanced this project is and whether live service elements were planned from the start of production. Nonetheless, it's advisable to approach these reports with caution and await an official statement.
